After a great deal of research, I've found that being prepared will make this journey more enjoyable.  Glacier is teaming with wildlife and respect for them will make hikes safer.  Don't surprise the bears!  Bear bells aren't always loud enough so conversation during the hike is much better to alert them of your presence.  Don't hike in tall grasses where bears can pop out onto the trail without warning...for you AND for them.  If confronted with a bear, DON'T RUN! Their nature is to chase anything that flees.  Stand completely still.  (I wonder if I can do that with a 200+ lb bear staring me in the face?  Hopefully I won't find out.)
Ticks are plentiful in wilderness hikes.  We don't plan any of these but will be prepared.  After numerous medical books, a local pharmacist, and online sites advising acetone or vaseline to smother the tick and causing him to remove his imbedded head,  the overwhelming suggestion is to use tweezer and patience to gradually remove the head straight up and out.  Grab the head and not the body.  Got the tweezer, hope not to use them.  Ticks are very small!
Time to pack!  Don't forget the tweezers!
