Our float with Wild River starts at 10a so we need to get up, have our breakfast, and get to Wild River by 9:40a.
We register and purchase our waterproof cameras and wait for our guide at the picnic table. Brian is our guide and we find out that we're the only two on the float ride! We feel honored that we'll have Brian all to ourselves for lots of fun and educational info on the trip. Little wildlife came to the shores of the Middle Fork of the Flathead River but we did see an immature eagle and then a little later an adult eagle! It was tremendous but we don't have our pictures developed from our film cameras so we'll have to wait until we get home to see them. A very relaxing and enjoyable 2.5 hours on the Flathead.
We returned to our room to change and then go to Eddy's Cafe in Apgar with our $20 voucher for lunch. We each ordered a different sandwich and shared a half so we could each taste both sandwiches. Served with chips, we were satisfied and headed for Lake McDonald Lodge for our afternoon boat ride around the lake.

The DeSmet boat for our ride. |
The boat ride was disappointing and the views were obscured by the fires that are raging in Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. This smoke will remain in the air for a very long time. We returned to our lodge and walked the pathways in the back until the mosquitoes started their attack and we retreated to our room.

Tomorrow we head for Whitefish and Big Mountain to check out our Walk in the Tree Tops adventure we'll have on the 19th.
