TPA to ATL to SLC to FCA Kalispell, Mt.

DAY 1

Off to another adventure! As usual, I waited late to finish my packing and pick up last minute items so bedtime didn’t happen until 11.  6:30 a.m. Out of the house on time and reached Melodie’s for our Stu shuttle to the airport.

Our tickets gave us the TSA PreCk which I had never experienced before. This was great! Checked our boarding passes, no taking off shoes or pulling out liquids or computer for the conveyor belt!  Just put it on the belt, walk through, and pick up items to proceed to the gate. The TSA attendant explained that this was something that is randomly assigned to various passengers.  Melodie doesn’t think so since she’s been “gifted” with this “pass” the last few times she’s flown and she said, “I’m not THAT lucky!”

The extra time allowed us to have our breakfast of boiled eggs and yogurt while we waited. Another cost-saving measure was that they asked for volunteers to check their bags so we didn’t have to lug around our suitcase carry-on and we checked it for FREE!

Don’t know why they do spot checks as you board but they went through my backpack carry-on as I boarded.

Reached Atlanta early for a long walk to the other end of the airside but it was nice to stretch our legs. Sat for 14 minutes and then got on board for Salt Lake.  The 3 hour flight went by quickly with a Muppets movie, purchased lunch, and now some journaling.

Saw a sign as we boarded:  “MOBILE DEVICES JUST GOT MOBILER”.  Mobiler? Is that even a word, Delta?  My Word program doesn’t think so!  Oh well.

We’ll reach SLC around 3:30 EST to jump a quick flight to Kalispell and arrive by 4:45 MST.   Some grocery shopping to do, check in to hotel, and eat dinner before collapsing into bed.

Tomorrow is our fun-filled drive on Hwy 2 through Essex, walking a rope bridge, and through Goatlick and ending up in Two Medicine, Mt. for the next few days.  And the hiking begins!
