First sighting at first light. |
We set the alarm for 4:45a and were out the door by 5:05 with our cup of coffee and cameras and driving to Johnson's RV on the hill. But wait! We reach Two Dog Flats in the early morning light and see three elk grazing! Talk about a hard time catching a good photo between the distance and the lack of light! Here's the best of what I could get.

More light after 30 minutes for a clearer shot. |

My grab shot while driving. |
We slowed to make our Johnson's turn and found this little guy running on the side of the road. I'm holding my camera and pressing the shutter button while driving so the first one is mine and the second one is Melodie's since she got to shoot right next to him. We gave him the lead and he went straight up the drive to Johnson's and then off to the right as we took the left fork.

OK. I'll pose for Melodie. |
Sunrise was a little disappointing so we returned to Two Dog Flats to see if the elk had waiting for our return. No such luck.
Melodie wanted a shower and I wanted to warm up and take a quick nap so off to bed I went. Roughly 4 hours of sleep the night before did not agree with me so down I went with my head under the covers. Woke up at 9:45a, rolled over after making sure Melodie didn't have anything special she wanted to do today (she was working on her blog and her pictures) and I finally got up at 12:50p. Boy did I need that!
We're off to St. Mary Lodge to abuse their wifi again and get our blogs updated including today's. We felt guilty so we ordered lemonades and some chips. Over 2 hours later, we're off to Many Glacier for the Fishercap Lake hike down to the lake. It's short but we need to keep doing some walking/hiking. With any luck, we'll see moose around the lake.
Haven't seen any photos of me? Well, here's a catch up of some of my antics from the last hike. More coming tomorrow as we make an overnight drive to Waterton - Glacier International Peace Park in Canada.

Stole this maneuver from a man ahead of me. Dip your hat in the ice cold water then... |

Put it on your head for a refreshing pick-me-up! |
